This article examines the effect of the functioning of a Jewish and democratic state as the state of the Jewish people or "a Jewish state" – on the foreign relations of Israel. Israel’s definition as a Jewish state affects the nature of its foreign policy. The foreign policy of a state defined as a Jewish state is complex and unique.
