“Twin Brothers”: European Anti-Semitism and Anti-Americanism
January 8, 2006 |
Andrei S. Markovits
The new anti-Semitism revives stereotypes of traditional anti-Semitism and has a specific element that decades-old hostility to Israel is directed against the existence of an entire country in its capacity as a "collective Jew." It is mainly, among other things, a consequence of anti-Americanism.
America’s Hamas Dilemma: Spreading Democracy or Combating Terrorism?
November 1, 2005 |
Amb. Dore Gold
The Bush administration had not agreed for some time with the Israeli position that Hamas be excluded from the upcoming Palestinian parliamentary elections. At Princeton University on September 30, 2005, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was absolutely clear that Palestinian violence could not co-exist with Palestinian politics in the future. She also reiterated that Hamas was a terrorist organization.
The American Legal System and Holocaust Restitution – Holocaust Justice: The Battle for Restitution in America’s Courts, by Michael J. Bazyler
October 30, 2005 |
Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld
Michael Bazyler notes that according to historians, the Germans stole assets valued at $230-$320 million in today's monies from the Jews in Europe. The renewed Holocaust restitution process since the end of the twentieth century has drawn major political and media interest in many countries. It has led to substantial payments to both Jews and non-Jews. Only part of these involve stolen assets and, despite their size, represent only small percentages of the overall amount plundered or even of what had already been paid out since the war. The process has also stimulated official research about Holocaust and post-Holocaust attitudes toward the Jews in more than twenty-five countries.
