About the Authors

Amb. Dore Gold

Ambassador Dore Gold has served as President of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs since 2000. From June 2015 until October 2016 he served as Director-General of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously he served as Foreign Policy Advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN (1997-1999), and as an advisor to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Fiamma Nirenstein

Fiamma Nirenstein served as a member of the Italian Parliament (2008-2013) where she was Vice President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Chamber of Deputies. During her mandate, she established and chaired the Parliamentary Committee for the Inquiry into Anti-Semitism, as well as the Institutional Cooperation Committee between the Knesset and the Chamber of Deputies. A journalist and author, Ms. Nirenstein is a founding member of the International Friends of Israel Initiative and a fellow of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. She is the author of eleven books, among them “Israel Is Us” (2009) whose English version was published by the Jerusalem Center.

Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser

Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser is Director of the Project on Regional Middle East Developments at the Jerusalem Center. He was formerly Director General of the Israel Ministry of Strategic Affairs and head of the Research Division of IDF Military Intelligence.

Amb. Freddy Eytan

Ambassador Freddy Eytan, a former Foreign Ministry senior advisor who served in Israel’s embassies in Paris and Brussels, was Israel’s first Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. He was also the spokesman of the Israeli delegation in the peace process with the Palestinians. Since 2007, he has headed the Israel-Europe Project at the Jerusalem Center, which focuses on analyzing Israeli relations with the countries of Europe and seeks to develop ties and avenues of bilateral cooperation. He is also the director of Le Cape, the Jerusalem Center website in French.

Amb. Alan Baker

Ambassador Alan Baker, Director of the Institute for Contemporary Affairs at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and the head of the Global Law Forum. He participated in the negotiation and drafting of the Oslo Accords with the Palestinians, as well as agreements and peace treaties with Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. He served as legal adviser and deputy director-general of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Israel’s ambassador to Canada.

Dan Diker

Dan Diker is Director of the Political Warfare Project at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. A former director general of the World Jewish Congress, he is also a Research Fellow, International Institute for Counter Terrorism at IDC, Herzliya.

Prof. Asa Kasher

Prof. Asa Kasher is the Laura Schwarz-Kipp Professor Emeritus of Professional Ethics and Philosophy of Practice and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University in Israel. A member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, he is co-author of the Israel Defense Forces Code of Ethics, “The Spirit of the IDF: Values and Basic Principles,” 1994. His research covers a broad range of topics in philosophy and ethics, including military ethics and medical ethics, philosophy of language, as well as issues of Jewish identity. In 2000, Professor Kasher was awarded the Israel Prize for his work in philosophy and ethics.

Jennifer Roskies

Jennifer Roskies works at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs as chief of staff. She was senior advisor to Dore Gold in the Director General’s Bureau during his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to that, she was involved in academic research, development, and communications.

Dr. Irwin Mansdorf

Irwin J. (Yitzchak) Mansdorf, PhD., is a clinical psychologist and a fellow at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. He directs the Center’s Israel-Arab studies program for university students.
